Film 4 FrightFest is a big film fest over in the UK, and they just released the a brand new free e-zine. It’s a cool read, and really easy to sign up to read online and easy to print out. The first issue has 68 pages of horror goodness, including interviews with Eli Roth, the director of “A Serbian Film”, reviews, news and the like. Definitely worth checking out!

What up boils and ghouls! Just a head’s up on a flick we didn’t get to discuss on the last show.
Splice is a sci-fi/horror mashup about a couple of scientists who do what scientists usually do in sci-fi/horror flicks – mess with nature, play God, unforseen results, followed by the running and screaming and murder……you know the drill. Here’s a plot summary:
Elsa and Clive, two young rebellious scientists, defy legal and ethical boundaries and forge ahead with a dangerous experiment: splicing together human and animal DNA to create a new organism. Named “Dren”, the creature rapidly develops from a deformed female infant into a beautiful but dangerous winged human-chimera, who forges a bond with both of her creators – only to have that bond turn deadly.
The film has some positive buzz, so it may well be worth checking out.
I’m not sure I am able to see it this weekend, so if any of you catch it, do me a solid and let us know what you think. Stay scary!

What up, boils and ghouls? Just a friendly neighborhood Johnny Thunder reminder that A Nightmare on Elm Street will slash its way into theaters in just one short week.
Will it live up to the hype? Will it compare in anyway to the original classic? Is Jackie Earle Haley up to the task of filling Robert Englund’s shoes….er, I mean striped sweater and fadora – as Freddy? Will Chris at least buy me a large popcorn when we check it out together next Friday night?
These, and all your other burning horror questions, will be answered in a few short days.

One two, Freddy’s coming for you………….

Spectremen, the kick-ass horror/punk/metal band, and their cool song “72 Inches Down”, are featured in this month’s show.
Thanks again to cool ghoul Evil Jim and the guys for sharing their spooktacular music with us. I really dig their sound and the fact that they are huge monster and horror fans. Be sure to check out their site for upcoming shows, music, videos and merchandise.
Stay scary, dudes!

So I caught the matinee of The Crazies last Saturday morning as I promised you, the loyal listeners. I always hold off on posting my thoughts on the boards and/or my super duper award winning blog just so I have something to BS about with our G/Host for this month’s show. I definitely have thoughts about this latest horror redo willy, so tune in to the new show on 3/26 to hear all about it.
I caught a few flicks on cable the past few weeks, including Dead End (2003) with one of my favs, Ray Wise. Nice little unexpected flick, go check it out if you have an hour and a half to kill – I was pleasantly surprised by this one.
Unfortunately, I also suffered through a pile of crap called Bram Stoker’s Dracula’s Guest (2008) – yikes. What a complete inept craptacular flick – I don’t even know where to start on this one. Overall, it is a very poorly done project, from the direction to the (very poor) acting to – well, almost everything about the film is just bad. I wouldn’t waste any time on this thing. Even though it was free, I would like some compensation for the time I wasted watching it.
If anyone else gets a network called This and you dig cheesy and B-horror flicks like I do, be sure to check out the channel. Most of the genre stuff plays on the weekends, and especially late Saturday night at 11:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m., but also later and often on Sundays. Over the course of the past few weeks, they have aired such gems as The Incredible Two-Headed Transplant (1971) , Killer Klowns From Outer Space (1988), Dr. Heckyl and Mr. Hype (1980), Murders In The Rue Morgue (1971), and many, many more. Again, if you like some high grade calcium with your fright flick fix, check out this channel.
I’m hoping to head over the bridge next weekend to check out Monster-Mania Con in Cherry Hill, NJ. If you are going to be there, shoot me an email………. I’d love to have you buy me a beer.
Well, boils and ghouls, I have my first case of 2010 of Troegs Imperial Amber Nugget Nectar that I am working on this fine warm weekend, so I am going to go fire up the grill and burn some meat.
Later!,
